Adrian Henri’s painting has the eclecticism, the deliberate inclusiveness, which also marks his poetry. The sources he draws upon are as apparently far apart from one another as Bonnard, James Ensor, David Cox and Wayne Thiebaud; and he parades rather than conceals his indebtedness to other artists. This is because he regards the experience of art as part of personal experience.
